We at Sitemorse are always looking to improve the capability of our service and the way we display results.

We are undoubtedly the longest established supplier of digital content quality assessment software and therefore, we like to think we know a little bit about what our clients expect.

We know that digital teams want to achieve something rather than just receiving pages and pages of reports.

Over the coming months, we’ll be updating all of our individual assessment categories summary pages to ensure they are giving our clients the best experience. We’ve recently introduced the first of these updated pages, Email.

For a more detailed look at the email module, please watch our movie.

The Email summary page still has the crucial information on it such a score for the category, as well as a brief summary stating the number of email addresses we found and how many need attention.

The rest of the page has a fresh new layout with some added new features.

We’ve got two graphics at the top of the page, the doughnut chart on the left shows the percentage of email without priority actions, and the graph on the right shows the performance over time.

Below the chart we have four areas of the assessment that we can drill down into further. The first is the detail of the actions required by address, showing you where corrections to email addresses found on your site are required.

Then we have download, where you can download a breakdown of all the email addresses found on the site, including their location. This may be useful, if there is an upcoming update to email address formats, it can be treated as an inventory of the email addresses on the site.

Next is one of the new features, the mapping of email addresses which shows you where they are found in the world, showing you which servers are collecting email. This is important for privacy as it could show for example, where data that forms are collecting is being sent to.

Finally, we have a breakdown of the email addresses showing the history of all the email addresses which are in use on the site. This feature lets you keep track of email addresses, and can be useful for example, if you have to remove an email address as you can track it and check it has been removed.

Example of the new email category summary page

The email summary page also has two actions:

On the left there is the ability to key in any email address and test it live. For example, this may be useful if you’ve had an email address reported as having issues, you can run it live from here and see the status.

Then we also have the ability to find a specific email address on your site. So, you can type in an address and as you type in the address it will shorten the list for you, showing email addresses we’ve found. Once you’ve found the desired address, click the find button and it will show you exactly where the email address was found and on which type of page it was found, for example a web page, PDF or social page. From here using the SMARTVIEW buttons you can view the page as it was at the time of assessment and see the page or the source code.

We hope the updates we’ve made to the email category are improving how you manage email across your digital footprint. If you have any feedback, we’d love to hear it, please contact mhay@Sitemorse.com
