This week, Support Lead, Helen introduces the Privacy category of a Sitemorse assessment.

It is important to respect the privacy of users to your site, and to know if your site meets GDPR requirements. Ensuring that this is complied with will help your site to be considered trustworthy.

Sitemorse has partnered with Privacy and Coookies Ltd to provide this service.

The Privacy Respect Score is the international standard for reporting the impact of the use of non-consensual cookies (and similar objects such as HTML 5 local storage). These are small pieces of data stored in visitors' browsers, which are regulated by the GDPR law. They have many purposes, from creating a one-time browsing session, to tracking a user's activity long-term across the internet.

The Sitemorse Privacy category reviews cookies found on your website pages, and this will determine whether your site is rated as:

  • Respecting privacy
  • Limited respect
  • No respect
  • Abusing privacy
