The days are numbered for those pesky pop up adverts

Google have listened to the 68% of searchers that would like sites that have too many adverts to be blocked. Google is updating the algorithms used to rank the search results it provides. From 10th January 2017 pages which have pop up adverts will be more likely to be placed lower down in search rankings.

 

By making this change Google is hope to make some of its results less frustrating and give a better user experience. There will however, be some exceptions, the pop ups will alert users to the use of cookies on a site will still be allowed as will pop ups that require a user to enter to log in details to get to an area of the site.
