England UK, July 2002 Business2www plc (B2W) – Website testing specialist has recently been able to assist UniCall Telecommunications Limited, a provider of voice and data communications services by identifying, locating and enabling the elimination of a number of website errors and other problems.

The use of websites for customer information has grown significantly over the last 2 years, with companies now only making their documentation available on-line – UniCall are no different, indeed it is an increasingly important part of their business.

UniCall, who specialise in the supply of communications products and services, offer both voice and data services to a very broad base of users. They provide a wide selection of services, to many different market sectors. An effective and secure method for delivering sign-up documentation is on-line via their website.

Take-up for one of the services offered was not in line with the number of visitors they were getting to the site. Access statistics show encouraging traffic volumes, yet fewer than expected sign-ups – there were also a disproportionate amount of e-mail and telephone requests, which required costly and time-consuming management attention.

Checking of the site found that accessing the sign-up form to be the problem area. The Sitemorse™ report showed the precise line of code that was the cause, allowing the site management company to fix the site within minutes.

Now that the problem has been found and corrected, the number of manual servicing requests (phone calls etc) have gone down and sales have increased.

UniCall Managing Director commented;

'Although we were continually testing the site, we became so familiar with it so that when certain changes were made, we overlooked the effect on other parts of the site. What worked well before the change, didn’t work so well afterwards. When you are working to a deadline it is so easy to miss the obvious. The B2w report highlighted this and within minutes we had resolved the error.

I am sure we share this kind of problem, and the potential to lose customers and sales, with the majority of websites.

In future, we will check the site on a regular basis, and every time modifications are made.’
