At Sitemorse we published our 2020 Q1 Hotels INDEX this week. The INDEX has been published quarterly since 2015 and ranks the websites of 93 hotels based on User Experience, Search Engine Optimisation and Governance, Risk and Compliance.

Our Q1 2020 INDEX was produced on 7th January 2020 and in its preparation, we ran over 100 million tests checks and measures across over 320,000 URLs.

Congratulations go to Firmdale Hotels for retaining first place. Also, congratulations are due to Bvlgari Hotels for being the most improved.

If we focus purely on Accessibility, then we see that

  • No Hotel scored 8 or higher, indeed the highest score was 5.
  • 92% scored 4 or less.
  • 56% actually scored zero

Comparing results with last quarter, only 9 hotels improved their accessibility score from the last quarter, while 6 scored lower. 22 hotels failed all of the WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA tests on every single page.

Making websites accessible is law - in the US there is the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and in the UK the Equalities Act 2000.

The Top Ten Hotel Websites are:

  1. Firmdale Hotels
  2. Hyatt Residence Club
  3. AC Hotels Marriott
  4. Corinthia Hotels
  5. Adagio Aparthotel
  6. Carlson Rezidor Corporate
  7. Knights Inn
  8. Bvlgari Hotels
  9. Guoman
  10. M Gallery
