Independent analysis of the UK MP websites (Cabinet and Shadow Cabinet) by Sitemorse®

London, 31st May 2017 – Sitemorse®, publisher of industry wide indexes in experience, optimisation and compliance, today announced the results of its independent assessment of the websites of the UK’s dissolved Cabinet and Shadow Cabinet Ministers. Jeremy Hunt and David Mundell achieved the joint #1 position in the first MPs INDEX (based on candidates from the dissolved Cabinet and Shadow Cabinet). The full report can be accessed via the link below and includes assessment scores based on website functionality, accessibility, brand, HTML, performance, email, metadata and PDFs.

Scores for each website assessment discipline are calculated out of 10, and the results illustrate that just 4 of the 54 websites analysed achieved good scores, with Barry Gardiner achieving the lowest overall score of 1.5.  Jeremy Hunt and David Mundell came top of rankings before the figures we rounded and the report was exported, both scoring marginally higher than Gavin Williamson who also registered a score of 7.9.  In some instances, MPs didn’t have an official website in their name, instead choosing to use their constituency site.  Where this is the case, the constituency website has been analysed.

“The MP and constituency websites analysed created a broad range of results, from scores of 7.9 to 1.5, however over half recorded what we consider a low score,” said Lawrence Shaw, CEO of Sitemorse®“In general, functionality and accessibility scores are low, which should certainly be a consideration at a time when members of the public require information to formulate their decision,” said Shaw.

It is notable that functionality and accessibility scores of the top performing MP sites were significantly higher than the websites of any of the major parties that feature in the first Sitemorse® UK Political Parties INDEX (also launched today).  Details can be found via the link below:
